the couthie process - what happens next?
If you are thinking of commissioning a piece, whether it is a corset, a gown, a full wedding ensemble - then your next stop is to contact me by telephone or email (please see the contact page). Even though we may not meet until six months before your wedding day, it is wise to contact me and see if I have space - this is particularly true if you are getting married from May to July, as these months are booked a year in advance.
We will discuss your requirements and arrange a meeting where I can show you sketches, samples and find out all about you and what you need. I will then work up a quotation for you based upon the outcome of our initial consultation, which is free of charge.
If you accept the quotation we will enter a contract - this protects both of us and is a requirement before work can begin. I usually request that we meet three to six months before your wedding although I always try to fit you in depending on my diary. Corsets and special occasion gowns take a minimum of four-six weeks, depending on availability of fabric, meetings, etc. Afterwards I will take detailed measurements, produce a toile based upon these and we will have two or more fittings to ensure that your corset or gown fits perfectly and that you are happy, which is my main aim.
The whole process is 'couthie' - comfortable and easy - to give you a couture piece of clothing designed and made to your specification. I do not make cheap clothing but something that will last you for years and will make you look - and feel - wonderful
